Brown & Brown of Michigan, located in Fenton, is comprised of Brown & Brown formerly in Flint, Diversified Insurance Services formerly in Grand Blanc and Smith-Peabody-Stiles Insurance Agency of Fenton. Each agency had it’s own rich history going back many decades.

Hunt-Smith-Peabody and the Stiles Insurance Agency joined forces in January of 1998 and the newly created entity was named Smith-Peabody-Stiles. The history of the two firms dates back to 1938 when Ray Hunt opened an office in his home and 1919 when D.R. Stiles hung out his shingle.

Diversified Insurance Services was founded in 1982 in Flint but was a combination of agencies in existence since as far back as the 1940’s. In 2006, Diversified relocated to Grand Blanc and became part of Brown & Brown in 2008.

Braun & Braun Insurance was established in Flint in 1886. Over the years, the agency purchased the Sparky Hale Agency, Howard Edgecomb Agency and the Dow Agency before being sold to Reidman Insurance in 1994. Reidman was sold to Brown & Brown in 2000. Relocation to Fenton took place in 2008.
